Mathewson’s fun and whimsical storytelling tiki pieces are sure to bring a smile to local kama’aina folks and malahini visitors alike. His work is distinguished by his unique and exotic underwater sea-life pieces that come alive through his exclusive color combinations. Mathewson showcases the realistic, liquid style of the ocean, that include his signature bubbles which blend seamlessly into the skillfully hand carved images he creates on aluminum panels. His work is a culmination of diversity derived from years of past experience.

In addition to being an acclaimed fine artist, Mathewson has decades of experience in award-winning motorcycle, automotive and industrial custom painting. He successfully owned and operated his commercial art studio for over 35 years and is considered one of the world’s “top guns” in the custom automotive painting industry.

He relocated to Honolulu Hawaii in 1980 where he stills lives and paints today.

He has also created his own signature series industrial colors “Hawaiian Hues” as well as airbrush templates Bubble FX, Tiki Master, Wood grain FX and Kanji Master used by artists worldwide. He is also the designer and creator of DM Dzign picture frame mouldings seen in over 1000 framing stores nationally. His collectable artwork can also be seen on numerous licensed products worldwide.
